Position Overview
The New Student Onboarding Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month role reporting to the Director of Admissions. This position is pivotal in the creation and management of two key onboarding initiatives: New Student Orientation (NSO) and Campus Visits.
The primary responsibilities include the design and execution of a comprehensive NSO program, which encompasses pre-arrival and post-NSO communications, program check-in, resource fairs, student-led sessions, and evening activities. Additionally, this role involves the recruitment and management of the TJC Apache Chiefs, who serve as student leaders during NSO.
Furthermore, the coordinator will oversee all campus tours, both individual and group, aimed at assisting incoming TJC students and their families. This includes introducing the campus and its resources, facilitating discussions about the transition to college, and representing TJC effectively. The recruitment and management of the TJC Ambassador program, which consists of student tour leaders, is also a key responsibility.
The position requires the identification, planning, and implementation of new student programs as emerging needs arise.
The ideal candidate will possess experience with institution-wide initiatives designed to engage and support student development, taking into account their diverse backgrounds and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and oversee new student onboarding initiatives.
- Recruit, supervise, and develop both professional and student support staff.
- Manage and oversee the Apache Chief and Ambassador student leadership teams.
- Administer all related program budgets.
- Represent the college at various campus events, regional meetings, and national conferences in relevant fields.
- Conduct external research and benchmarking to align strategies with current best practices in Orientation, Transition, and Retention.
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of program/project mission, values, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Act as a liaison to other departments to ensure effective coordination and execution of onboarding programs.
- Lead updates and improvements for programs/projects.

Qualifications
Required Education
Associate's degree in a relevant field.
Required Experience
Minimum of one year of experience in an admissions office or related to student orientation programming, including student staff recruitment, training, and supervision.
