Patient Care Technician

Position Overview:
This role operates under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for assisting with individual daily living activities and specific patient care treatments as directed by the Registered Nurse, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
This position may require travel among various MyMichigan Health facilities.For Casual Roles:
Casual employees do not have fixed work hours but must agree to meet the minimum time commitments associated with the role while employed. This includes a minimum of 48 hours per month, with at least 24 hours scheduled on weekends, and an annual requirement of 24 hours worked on holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
(50%)* Under the supervision of the nurse, organizes and prioritizes care for assigned patients, executing basic nursing assistant skills as outlined in training and policies.
(25%)* Records treatments and relevant observations in the patient's chart. Provides updates to the team on completed tasks.
(25%)* Ensures the unit is clean, safe, and orderly.
Additional Duties:
Supports the mission, objectives, policies, and standards of nursing. Recognizes, supports, and implements medical center and unit policies and regulations.
Addresses the age-specific needs of the patient population in accordance with departmental standards and protocols.
Emergency Response:
Acts according to established procedures in all medical center emergency situations.
Ensures a safe and secure environment for patients while providing excellent customer service:
Exhibits professionalism and courtesy at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certifications and Licenses:
BLS - Basic Life Support
Required
Equivalent Experience - Within 3 months of hire or transfer
PCT - MMH PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN Certification
Required
Equivalent Experience - Must possess an internal MidMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification or a current State of Michigan registry document as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification leading to licensure in Michigan or completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program culminating in licensure in Michigan or successful completion of one semester of nursing clinical education by an Accredited Registered Nurse Program.
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR equivalent Medical Assistant Credential such as Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CCMA, etc.

Knowledge of reading, writing, mathematics, and computer skills.
Interpersonal skills are essential for effective communication with individuals and groups, enabling clear and understandable exchanges of ideas and concepts.
MyMichigan Health is a technology-driven organization, and employees are expected to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Windows. Participation in further training opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health may be required.Familiarity with medical terminology is necessary.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Exposure to stressful situations, including public contact, trauma, grief, and death.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including latex materials or appropriate substitutes as required for the position.
Must be able to navigate the facility freely, with or without an assistive device, and perform the job functions as outlined in the job description.
Frequent sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods may be required. May involve frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
Some exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. Compliance with MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing protocols is required.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, collaborate with others, work independently, maintain regular attendance, and remain alert is essential.

Medium.
Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) lift 20 lbs., and constantly (67-100% of the workday) lift 10 lbs.
