Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Physical Damage Appraiser to join our team at Auto-Owners Insurance. As a key member of our claims department, you will be responsible for inspecting damaged automobiles, developing information regarding repair costs, and negotiating repair cost agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect damaged vehicles to determine extent of damage and estimate repair costs
  • Negotiate repair cost agreements with repair facilities and vehicle owners
  • Communicate with claim associates, agents, and insureds regarding inspections and conclusions
  • Develop and participate in required communication to vehicle owners regarding repairs
  • Participate in negotiations, follow-up, and problem resolution on claims
  • Work towards the resolution of claims, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary
  • Handle investigations by phone, mail, and on-site investigations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 3 years working as a physical damage appraiser
  • Knowledge of CCC software is preferred but not required
  • Above average communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to resolve complex issues
  • Organize and interpret data
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Possess a valid driver's license
