Position Overview

The role of the Safety and Compliance Manager is pivotal in upholding safety standards across all operational sites while ensuring adherence to both regulatory and client safety protocols. This position involves comprehensive training and oversight in line with corporate policies, legal mandates, and client specifications regarding safety practices, along with proactive problem-solving and strategic recommendations.

Willingness to travel to various locations is essential.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Safety and Compliance Manager include:

  • Overseeing all OSHA safety initiatives and providing training for personnel across all facilities with the following objectives:
    • Maximizing the integration of safety programs across all sites, recognizing the need for some location-specific adjustments.
    • Reducing workplace incidents and DART rates.
    • Achieving and maintaining certification for all facilities within the SHARP program.
  • Maintaining comprehensive Safety Data Sheet files and documentation.
  • Reporting any potential safety and health concerns to senior management, both verbally and in writing.
  • Conducting safety inspections at all facilities to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Managing annual fit testing for the respirator program.
  • Collaborating with department leaders to recommend safety equipment purchases and distributing necessary safety gear.
  • Developing new safety programs as required.
  • Staying informed about safety regulations and updating company programs accordingly.
  • Managing interactions with OSHA and completing necessary OSHA documentation.
  • Chairing the Safety Advisory Committee and organizing regular committee meetings.
  • Acting as a First Responder and leading emergency response efforts.
  • Investigating all workplace accidents and near-misses at each facility.
  • Providing weekly safety discussion topics for site and department managers.
  • Implementing and overseeing a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) program.
  • Supervising the Safety Coordinator at each site, who also has regular duties.
  • Conducting monthly and annual fire extinguisher inspections.
  • Ensuring safety training is delivered in compliance with company policies and government regulations, while keeping training materials up to date.
  • Monitoring safety compliance among all external contractors working on our sites.
  • Assisting with facility audits and inspections.
  • Maintaining necessary records, checklists, and test results.
  • Ensuring team members comply with all regulatory, client, and company standards.
  • Managing compliance with CDL and DOT training requirements and assisting with audits.
  • Supporting Biosecurity Protocols.
  • Undertaking additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
