Job Title: Service Writer

We are seeking a highly skilled Service Writer to join our team at the City of Farmington. As a Service Writer, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling routine and emergency repair service for city vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and schedule routine and emergency repair service for city vehicles
  • Schedule city-owned vehicles for preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Greets customers to the division and answers telephone
  • Generates a work order for vehicles requiring repair or maintenance
  • Provides administrative diagnostic evaluations and customer service duties
  • Orders parts from local vendors when necessary
  • Updates preventative maintenance schedules for vehicles as needed
  • Coordinates all outside vehicle repair work with local vendors
  • Responds to requests for service from the field
Requirements:
  • Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent and specialized training in mechanics, maintenance management, or a closely related field
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license (or current state of residency) with an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years
  • Knowledge of automotive mechanics, including maintenance and diagnostics
  • Ability to type 30 wpm or at a rate sufficient to perform duties of job
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Work Environment:

The work environment is primarily inside, with occasional outside work in various weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
