Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Learning Assistant Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our childcare staff, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for our young learners.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities for programs.
  • Actively engage with children in the classroom, promoting social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Assist with daily parent communication, ensuring a strong partnership between home and school.
  • Prepare materials for daily activities, maintaining a well-organized and tidy classroom environment.
  • Maintain records of attendance, arrival, and departure times, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Maintain supervision of children at all times, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
  • Assist Site Supervisor with parent-teacher conferences as needed, providing a collaborative and supportive approach to communication.
  • Efficiently communicate with the classroom teaching team, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to teaching and learning.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or CDA preferred; three to six months childcare-related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
  • Ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
