Overview

As a cornerstone of pediatric healthcare services, Baylor College of Medicine is dedicated to providing exceptional care for children. The Division of Neurology within the Department of Pediatrics is currently seeking a full-time Advanced Practitioner Provider. This role includes a faculty appointment, competitive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package. The selected candidate will deliver advanced nursing care in a specialized clinical environment under the supervision of a physician.

Key Responsibilities

The Advanced Practitioner will:

  • Conduct thorough patient histories and physical assessments.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests relevant to the patient's health concerns.
  • Prescribe suitable pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
  • Document patient progress, treatments, and procedures accurately in medical records.
  • Ensure meticulous maintenance of patient medical documentation.
  • Provide ongoing health maintenance care in alignment with established protocols.
  • Engage in effective communication with physicians, patients, and their families regarding care plans.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to identify patients for care management.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

For Nurse Practitioner Candidates:

  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas and Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP) licensure, along with specialty certification as mandated by the department. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.

For Physician Assistant Candidates:

  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Active PA licensure with the Texas Medical Board and certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

For All Candidates:

  • Experience working with pediatric patients with chronic conditions, along with knowledge of long-term medications and potential drug interactions.
  • Strong skills in physical assessment and diagnostics, coupled with experience in patient and family education and care coordination.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
