Sous Chef Job Description:

We are seeking a target-driven individual to join our team as a Sous Chef. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for preparing vegetables, cooking meats, and leading the preparation of our popular breakfast menu.

Our kitchen environments are fast-paced, and you will be expected to maintain high-quality standards while working efficiently. You will have opportunities for career progression within our company or within the group.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Producing food as directed by the Head Chef, with the potential to create your own dishes independently or as part of the team.
  • Assisting in the implementation of menus, ensuring variety and quality of servings for our guests.
  • Working with the Head Chef to maintain equipment and maintain service standards.
  • Training new staff members.
  • Assisting with monthly stocktaking and daily stock replenishment.
  • Maintaining legislative records, such as the SFBB log and labelling systems.
  • Wearing provided uniform and adhering to company Health & Safety policies.
  • Attending training and refresher training sessions as required.

Essential Attributes:

  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • Current Hygiene Certificate of Level 2 or higher.
  • Ability to manage tasks and responsibilities suitable to the role.
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
  • Good working knowledge of culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes.
  • Enthusiasm, confidence, and competence.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain performance under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety issues relating to kitchen working environments.

Desired Attributes:

  • Experience catering for a coaching hotel operation.
  • Higher education training in a similar role.
  • 2 years of experience as a Sous Chef.
