The Interagency Division within the Office of the Secretary of Defense offers expert support services across a variety of sectors, including the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. This division delivers a comprehensive array of analytical and programmatic capabilities, empowering our clients to make informed decisions on their most pressing issues.

SPA is seeking a Mid-Level Risk Analyst (CBRN) to join our Critical Infrastructure Group (CIG). The CIG specializes in providing technical, programmatic, and analytical support to clients engaged in national security missions, including various federal agencies. Our team brings expertise in countering weapons of mass destruction, critical infrastructure protection, emergency response, nuclear non-proliferation, and transportation safety. In addition to management and advisory services, CIG collaborates closely with clients to deliver high-quality modeling, simulation, software, and analytical products that meet stringent government standards and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

The Mid-Level Risk Analyst will deliver advanced analytical support to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), employing systematic, science-based methodologies and critical thinking to enhance the Department's decision-making capabilities regarding preparation, response, and recovery from Weapons of Mass Destruction scenarios and Critical Infrastructure disruptions. The Analyst will engage in a variety of modeling and analytical tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Model design, implementation, and operational oversight.
  • Documentation of model usage.
  • Data transformation and database schema design.
  • Quality assurance processes for data.

This role involves identifying, prioritizing, and executing analyses to bolster analytical rigor and capability concerning CBRN and critical infrastructure disruption scenarios. The Analyst will work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to formulate actionable plans and timelines to meet established objectives.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7-12 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, Java, C++, VBA, or SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in creating clear and compelling written and visual communications tailored to the audience.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance is mandatory.

Desired:

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, quantitative social sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience in quantitative risk analysis.
  • Prior analytical support experience with the Department of Homeland Security.
