Role Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, engaged, self-starter for the position of Health Care Policy Advisor in our Washington, D.C. office. This is a high-impact position requiring contact with clients, Members of Congress, lawyers, and staff at all levels of the firm. This individual will report to the Leader of our Health Care Policy team, Tim Trysla. This individual will support legislative advocacy priorities of clients and coordinate policy and political events for the practice group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend congressional hearings, federal agency sessions, and other health-related events, and draft summary reports.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and staff lobbying activity, including client congressional appointments and client lobby days.
  • Prepare advocacy materials.
  • Engage in direct contact and interaction with clients.

Requirements for Success

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the practice group, with clients, and with elected officials and their staffs.
  • Understand the federal legislative process and stay current on congressional issues.
  • Familiarity with the federal regulatory process, comment periods, and federal agency organizational charts.
  • Strong writing skills with a thorough command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, and self-editing.
  • Ability to accurately and quickly draft and edit written materials.
  • Ability to prioritize and flexibility to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Proven keen attention to detail.

Education and Experience

  • Two years of experience in government and/or government relations, preferably in a Congressional office, federal health care agency, or consulting firm.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize information and projects successfully.
  • Proven record of strong attention to accuracy and detail.
