Job Title: Policy Analyst, Pension Expert

Join the American Academy of Actuaries as a Policy Analyst, Pension Expert and contribute to the development of public policy initiatives that impact the retirement landscape.

About the Role

The Policy Analyst, Pension Expert will work closely with the Retirement Practice Council to identify and analyze key public policy issues affecting the actuarial profession and the Academy's public policy mission. This role requires a strong understanding of retirement policy, insurance, and legislative processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze federal legislative and regulatory proposals impacting the actuarial profession and the Academy's public policy mission.
  • Develop reports and briefing materials for senior leadership and the Practice Council on key policy issues.
  • Collaborate with the Practice Council and related committees to identify and develop public policy work products, including comment letters, issue briefs, and monographs.
  • Support the Practice Council's budget development and management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with public policy decision-makers to increase awareness of the Academy's role as a source of independent analysis and actuarial expertise.
Requirements
  • College degree and a minimum of four years of association, trade, or legislative/regulatory public policy experience.
  • Strong understanding of retirement policy issues or insurance more broadly.
  • Experience with project management tools, such as Asana.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, public speaking, writing, and editing skills.
