The Recycling Operations Facility Manager II is a key role within Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. responsible for driving operational effectiveness and efficiency across assigned facilities. This position reports directly to the Recycling Operations District Manager and has a primary focus on streamlining and coordinating overall operational performance.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure overall Health & Safety and Environmental compliance within facilities
- Monitor and maintain accurate material inventories, adhering to internal and SOX controls
- Coordinate inter-yard transportation of materials and ensure facility volume quotas are met
- Implement and maintain a Quality Control program, focusing on strong relationships with Commercial and Sales departments
- Operate facilities within established Operating and CAPEX budgets, making recommendations for Capital Expenditures
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in steel scrap yard operations
- Familiarity with physical operations and personnel
- College degree preferred, with courses in business/operations management helpful
- Project management experience or specialized knowledge a plus
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with cyclical workloads and significant time pressures. Regular overtime is required, and occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions is expected.
