Medical Assistant II

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant II to join our team at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical support in an outpatient care setting, working closely with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Take and record vital signs, and inform providers of patient vital signs and concerns.
- Prepare patients, rooms, and equipment for procedures and exams.
- Recognize and treat emergency patients as a priority, and assist with patient examinations and treatments.
- Handle patient situations over the phone, schedule appointments and procedures with medical professionals, and understand limitations in dealing with patients over the phone.
- Register new patients and establish medical records.
- Prepare patient billings and assist patients with filling out insurance and other forms.
- Collect and process routine laboratory specimens, operate and maintain clinical equipment, and maintain aseptic technique.
- Clean, wrap, and autoclave instruments, care for supplies and equipment, and perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
- Previous experience in office or outpatient ambulatory care setting strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team.
- Computer skills strongly preferred.
- Must be willing and able to participate in evening, weekend, and holiday coverage according to needs of the department.
- Required Licensure/Certifications: American Association Medical Assistants (AAMA) certified - CMA designation OR American Medical Technologists (AMT) registered - RMA designation OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant plus 12 month D-H apprenticeship program - CCMA designation.
- Current BLS certification required.
