Job Summary

North Carolina Humanities is seeking a highly skilled Marketing Coordinator to support our efforts in marketing and communications, as well as graphic design. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creating engaging content for various platforms, including websites, emails, social media, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Graphic Design: Develop graphics and written content to promote the NCH brand and messaging.
  • Review and Suggest Improvements: Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Content Creation: Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.
  • Artwork Creation: Create graphs, illustrations, and other artwork as needed.
  • Archive Management: Maintain an archive of images and copyright, photos, or previous work products through NCH's internal database.
  • Digital Content Creation: Serve as the digital content creator for the NC Reads Program by creating stories with digital content.
  • Marketing and Communications: Expand the digital presence and participation of NCH on all applicable platforms through the creation and dissemination of engaging content and generate ideas for compelling discussions and outreach.
  • Podcast Production: Produce podcasts by compiling stories through interviews with NCH alumni, donors, Board Trustees, NCH grant recipients, program participants, and program talent and scholars, etc.
  • Community Engagement: Build relationships and increase engagement with our online community and foster a positive sentiment towards the NCH brand.
  • Press Release Preparation: Prepare press releases by gathering information, including media coverage, and executing material in the marketplace.
  • Presentations and Reports: Prepare presentations and reports for NCH's annual report, annual luncheon, donor meetings, private fundraising, and stakeholder events, and others as needed.
  • SEO and Social Media: Stay current with new SEO, social media, marketing, and campaign management technologies and use them effectively to promote NCH.
  • Event Marketing: Create and distribute event marketing materials, such as invitations, promotional emails, and social media posts.
  • Research: Research the target audience of projects.
  • Social Media Management: Create and post both proactive and responsive content on social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram) in a timely manner.
  • Public Events Calendar: Maintain a public events calendar on NCH's website to announce programs.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; relevant experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Nonprofit Experience: Experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Social Media web platforms, Bloomerang, and WordPress systems.
  • Social Media Management: Prior experience managing an organization's social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter)).
  • Podcast Production: Possesses the knowledge to produce podcasts, including interviewing, production, and report writing.
  • Internal and External Communications: Experience and interest in internal and external communications, partnership development, and fundraising preferred.
  • Government Experience: Experience working in the U.S. Federal government or in organizations that contract with or receive substantial Federal funding is a strong plus.
Working Conditions
  • Travel: Ability and willingness to travel extensively and work nights and weekends as required.
  • Office Environment: Ability to work in an office environment.
  • Lifting: Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
  • Sitting and Standing: Sitting for extended periods of time and occasional standing for extended periods of time.
