Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

The Social Service Assistant will report directly to the locality manager and collaborate with senior social service personnel to ensure a secure and engaging atmosphere for residents. The role includes adherence to the policies and procedures set forth by Family & Community Services, aiming for the highest standards of service and professionalism.

Primary Duties Include:
  1. Facilitating the smooth operation of the facility and its therapeutic programs.
  2. Managing phone communications, including directing calls and taking messages.
  3. Maintaining an organized front office environment.
  4. Tracking and managing office and facility supply inventories.
  5. Conducting monthly fire extinguisher checks and fire drills.
  6. Logging and monitoring facility refrigeration temperatures as necessary.
  7. Assisting with clerical tasks, including client documentation and correspondence.
  8. Preparing accommodations for incoming residents.
  9. Coordinating with vendors for facility maintenance needs.
  10. Updating medication logs and processing donations.
  11. Ensuring punctuality for assigned shifts and arranging coverage when needed.
  12. Completing documentation and reporting to compile resident statistics and information.
  13. Occasionally preparing meals for residents.
  14. Tracking attendance for therapeutic programs.
  15. Handling client inquiries and referrals effectively.
  16. Assisting residents in communicating with various agencies for appointments.
  17. Accompanying residents to appointments as required.
  18. Promoting an inclusive environment free from discrimination.
  19. Adapting to diverse working environments, whether as part of a team or independently.
  20. Providing necessary support to enhance residents' quality of life.
  21. Participating in staff meetings and training sessions as mandated.
  22. Building positive relationships with colleagues.
  23. Staying informed about internal safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  24. Reporting for all assigned shifts punctually.
  25. Complying with agency policies, COA regulations, and state requirements.
  26. Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  1. Exemplifying open communication and equitable treatment.
  2. Demonstrating excellent communication skills in various formats.
  3. Willingness to learn client-centered approaches and conflict resolution techniques.
  4. Familiarity with community services.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  6. Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
  7. Possession of a valid driver's license and meeting agency driving requirements.
  8. Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  9. Access to reliable transportation and communication devices.

Education and Experience:

Preferred CPR/First Aid Certification and experience in crisis intervention.
