Maintenance Planner Job Description

The Maintenance Planner will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our production lines. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager and be responsible for coordinating and optimizing overhaul and preventive maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive overhaul plan for the facility, taking into account equipment schedules and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate parts, labor, and timelines for equipment overhauls and rebuild schedules, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal resource utilization.
  • Enhance the Preventive Maintenance program by identifying opportunities for improvement, developing standardized procedures, and tracking completion rates.
  • Utilize the Capital Asset Management system to maintain accurate records and data, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
  • Collaborate with vendors and purchasing to secure cost-effective quotes for plant projects and planned work, ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • Assist in implementing an organized parts storage strategy that aligns with company standards, promoting efficiency and reducing waste.
  • Provide support to the Maintenance Lead and Inventory Clerk as needed, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
  • Develop and implement checklists to ensure thorough job completion, reducing errors and improving quality.
  • Utilize Lean Six Sigma tools to optimize processes and reduce waste, driving continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance work, including ordering parts and kitting components, ensuring timely completion and minimal disruption.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for the maintenance department and facility, providing valuable insights for improvement.
  • Monitor and address any overdue preventive maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain employee training programs and records, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Develop and maintain standard work instructions and procedures, ensuring consistency and quality across all maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of equipment manuals and procedures, providing easy access to critical information.
  • Manage quality, food safety, environmental, and regulatory permits related to plant utilities and critical control points (CCPs), ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a maintenance planning role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using computer software applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Project management certification.
