The Assistant Director of Data Analytics serves as the Data Expert for the Administrative Research Data Domain in the Office of Research and Innovation at Virginia Tech. This position is responsible for recommending and implementing project, process, and data solutions to meet the needs of the team, unit, university, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the operational aspects of the data domain, including reporting, analytics, and data management.
  • Provide management and guidance to a Data Reporting Analyst.
  • Develop and implement data solutions to meet the needs of stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Data Steward and unit leadership to achieve goals.
  • Communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or related quantitative discipline.
  • Prior experience leading small teams or managing projects and initiatives.
  • Experience in business process analysis, data analytics, or deployment of analytic techniques.
  • Practical experience with SQL queries, analytics, data manipulation, and related relational database tools.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
