About the Role

The Assistant Director of Data Analytics serves as the Data Expert for the Administrative Research Data Domain in the Office of Research and Innovation at Virginia Tech. This position is responsible for managing the data domain, including reporting, analytics, and data management. The successful candidate will have experience in data analytics, business process analysis, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the operational aspects of the data domain, including reporting, analytics, and data management.
  • Develop and implement data solutions to meet the needs of the team, unit, university, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide management and guidance to a Data Reporting Analyst.
  • Collaborate with the Data Steward and unit leadership to ensure data quality and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the university.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or related quantitative discipline.
  • Prior experience leading small teams or managing projects and initiatives.
  • Experience in business process analysis, data analytics, or deployment of analytic techniques.
  • Practical experience with SQL queries, analytics, data manipulation, and related relational database tools.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to think creatively, solve problems, and work in a highly collaborative and dynamic work environment.
