Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Merchandise Processor General Green FT to join our team at Goodwill of Greater Washington. As a key member of our retail team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our stores by processing and preparing donated merchandise for display and sale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sort and process donated merchandise according to established guidelines and standards.
  • Stay up-to-date on brand names, designer labels, current and vintage styles to ensure accurate pricing and display.
  • Prepare items for the sales floor, evaluating quality, pricing, value, and salability.
  • Count and record processed items on official logs and reports.
  • Sort apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories according to quota.
  • Place items on hangers, transport them to the sales floor, and maintain a clean and organized display.
  • Follow good safety and security practices, reporting hazards and injuries to the manager on duty.
  • Maintain a pace that meets required productivity goals (quotas) for processed pieces.
  • Present a clean, neat uniform and appearance at all times.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist in the collection and stocking of donated merchandise.
  • Provide excellent service to Goodwill's donors and retail customers.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.
Requirements
  • Ability to perform basic math and read, write, and comprehend basic instructions.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to interact with associates and customers.
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and climbing for prolonged periods (up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift).
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 25 pounds frequently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of six months of previous work experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • Previous experience working with merchandise pricing.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Multilingual with proficiency in English.
