Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Warehouse/Sales Associate to join our team at our ReStore in Herndon, Virginia. As a key member of our ReStore team, you will be responsible for maximizing sales, providing excellent customer service, and assisting donors. If you have a positive attitude, effective organization and time-management skills, and an affinity for working with diverse groups of people, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage donors and customers in a helpful and respectful manner with a positive attitude
  • Demonstrate understanding of policies and procedures for safety protocols for all staff assignments as well as the loading / unloading and organization of merchandise
  • Guarantee integrity and accuracy while processing customer financial transactions through the register following established procedures for each type
  • Communicate with Donations Coordinator for screening for acceptability of donations when donors call or bring in donations following established guidelines
  • Perform daily cleaning and organization of all areas, in and around the ReStore, to be best displayed and free and clear of safety hazards
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with Habitat staff, volunteers and homeowners, as well as ReStore customers and donors
  • Oversee volunteers as needed, making their experience meaningful
  • Answer telephone and providing ReStore information, directions, meeting the caller's needs
  • Operate a forklift and scissor lift if needed
  • Participate in store meetings and training sessions as required by ReStore Manager
Requirements
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills when interacting with Habitat staff, volunteers and homeowners, and ReStore customers and donors in-person, by phone and in writing
  • Knowledge and experience in retail sales (minimum 2 years required)
  • Ability to spend majority of the day standing or moving about ReStore. Work may require climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward positions
  • Ability to accurately operate a cash register and office equipment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older (to meet our insurance requirements)
  • Must be able to safely lift and position up to 50 pounds
  • Familiarity with and commitment to Habitat's mission, methods, principles, and structure
  • Must be able to work some Saturdays
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check and Sexual Offender Check
  • Must be able to show proof of current and updated Covid-19 vaccination status and be willing to comply with all other CDC guidelines
