POSITION SUMMARY: The Corps Program Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Corps Officers in the daily operations and ministry of the Corps, focusing particularly on youth and children's initiatives, alongside the development and management of life group ministries.

The Corps Program Assistant is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, reflecting this dedication in their professional conduct and representation of the organization within the community.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a professional work environment.
  • Proficiency in desktop publishing and familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Publisher.
  • Ability to engage effectively with both youth and adults.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic proficiency in operating standard office equipment.
  • Experience in supervising staff and volunteers.
  • Attention to cleanliness and organization.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Involvement in the creative development and leadership of Corps programs.
  • Familiarity with Salvation Army programs is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the Salvation Army's standards and policies, with a willingness to adhere to them.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform clerical tasks such as composing correspondence, managing emails, answering calls, filing, and copying.
  • Participate in weekly Congregational Life Meetings, contributing to planning and discussions related to Corps business.
  • Support the Family Ministry Coordinator in children and youth programs, including Sunday School and other initiatives.
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of various Corps programs and ministries.
  • Help with seasonal and special events as required.
  • Assist in collecting and submitting monthly statistical reports.
  • Engage actively in a Life Group.
  • Collaborate closely with Corps Officers to enhance understanding of Corps leadership.
  • Oversee life group ministries, focusing on recruitment, training, and support for leaders and participants.
  • Facilitate Spiritual Gifts training to encourage involvement in church ministries.
  • Develop and lead training teams for Life Group leaders.
  • Encourage church-wide participation in Life Groups.
  • Establish systems to support a thriving Life Group ministry.
  • Communicate a clear vision for Life Groups and set service standards.
  • Plan appreciation events for Life Group leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned by Corps Officers.

  • Skill in managing multiple projects efficiently.
  • Ability to respond calmly to crisis situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and punctual attendance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The role involves various physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to lift and carry weights between 25-50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most tasks will be conducted indoors, with occasional outdoor activities. Attendance at training and conferences may be required. Uniforms may be necessary.

CLEARANCES:
Successful candidates will undergo a criminal history check. Convictions will be assessed based on individual circumstances.
