Position Overview: The Traveling Medical Assistant Trainer is tasked with overseeing the training and onboarding processes for Medical Assistants (MAs) within various clinics and facilities. This role is essential in ensuring that MAs are well-equipped to deliver high-quality patient care while adhering to clinical compliance standards. The trainer plays a significant role in developing the skills and knowledge of MAs, enabling them to excel in their positions and provide exceptional service to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exhibit professionalism and independence as a representative of Optum.
- Utilize strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Travel to various clinics to ensure consistent training quality and compliance through on-site evaluations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting medical assistant practices.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Facilitate hands-on training in essential clinical skills, such as venipuncture and patient assessment.
- Provide mentorship and support to medical assistants, monitoring their progress and offering constructive feedback.
- Organize and present educational programs, ensuring engagement and understanding among participants.
- Collaborate with operational teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Qualifications:
- Unrestricted certification as a Certified Medical Assistant.
- CPR certification and a valid U.S. Driver's License.
- A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Experience in a leadership or training capacity.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with veterans or in military healthcare settings.
- Prior travel experience in a professional capacity.
