Job Summary

The Certification Engineer III is a critical role within Recaro Aircraft Seating Americas, Inc. responsible for leading the development and execution of large and small-scale certification programs. This position requires a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and timely project completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute certification programs for aircraft interior products, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable CFR and CS 21, 23, and 25 regulations, with the ability to apply expertise in certification and testing to problem-solving.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies, such as the FAA and EASA, for coordination and approvals, and maintain accurate and up-to-date certification records.
  • Liaise with airlines, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project completion and reduce risks on programs through risk management reviews and surfacing issues in real-time.
  • Develop tools and processes to track deliverables, testing, and compliance findings, ensuring on-time completion of projects.
  • Train and mentor new engineers in compliance findings and support quoting and work scope for new business and forecast capacity needs.
  • Approval of TSO/ETSO compliance documents and maintain expertise in certification and testing to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, with at least 6 years' experience in aircraft interior products or a Master's degree in Engineering with at least 4 years' experience in aircraft interior products.
  • Aircraft interior certification experience in TSO/ETSO product testing is a must, with strong project management skills and the ability to establish and maintain schedules from multiple suppliers or on multiple projects.
  • Risk management skills, with the ability to review current issues and program status, identify and manage project risks, and apply expertise in certification and testing to problem-solving.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, a sense of urgency, and sensitivity to deadlines, with a detail-oriented style and ability to work within or lead teams when required.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and track multiple projects, and maintain good working relationships with domestic and international regulatory compliance offices.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry guidance and develop new means of compliance, when applicable, and prior experience in a technical leadership role is desired.
  • Experience in CATIA V4 or V5 or a similar program is preferred, as well as experience in MS Office products and using matrix parts lists with high variant diversity in SAP.
