Aerospace Certification Specialist

Mammoth Freighters is on the lookout for an Aerospace Certification Specialist to enhance our dynamic workforce. This role involves collaborating closely with the Director of Certification, Engineering, Program Management, and FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) to facilitate certification processes associated with significant STC modifications. The successful candidate will ensure that design and substantiating data align with the stipulations set forth by the FAA and international regulatory bodies. This position offers flexibility for remote or onsite work arrangements. Occasional travel for project-related assignments will be necessary. We welcome applications from both junior and senior-level professionals who are passionate about problem-solving and innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and coordinate certification prerequisites across various stakeholders throughout all project phases.
  • Offer expert guidance to engineering teams regarding certification-related matters.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve technical challenges.
  • Draft and maintain comprehensive certification project documentation.
  • Prepare and oversee compliance documentation.
  • Conduct reviews of compliance documents to ensure adherence to regulations.
  • Assist in certification testing at the component, system, and aircraft levels as required.
  • Monitor, track, and report on the progress of certification activities for various projects.
  • Provide updates on certification activities to program management to inform milestone timelines.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient technical writing abilities, including experience in creating letters, certification plans, test plans/reports, analyses, manuals, and technical presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong oral and written communication capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to evolving priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in aerospace certification projects, particularly with major STC modifications.
  • Familiarity with 14 CFR Parts 21, 25, and 26, along with FAA orders, policies, and advisory materials.
  • Experience collaborating with the FAA, FAA designees, ODAs, and international regulatory authorities is preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge in one or more of the following areas is advantageous:
  • Mechanical Systems
  • Powerplant/Fuel
  • Electrical Systems/Avionics
  • Understanding of industry standards such as SAE ARP4754, RTCA DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254 is preferred.
