Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Utilities Technician III to join our team at the City of Winter Garden. As a key member of our field operations team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the collection and distribution of water and wastewater services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate technical equipment used to locate water and wastewater utility lines.
  • Maintain grounds of City property, including tasks such as spraying and trimming foliage, clearing brush, mowing and trimming grass and weeds, planting trees and bushes, and removing debris and trash.
  • Repair and clean designated work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist field crews and trades workers in various tasks, including mixing concrete and assisting equipment operators in routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Clear debris, dig ditches, and assemble sand bags.
  • Install traffic devices, erect barricades, and assist in patching roads.
  • Remove, install, and repair various types of water/sewer pipes, hydrants, valves, and appurtenances, working in trenches or excavations.
  • Perform work in manholes and lift stations.
  • Assist in maintaining valves, installing water meters, and making taps.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Set up and operate sewer cleaning equipment, cement mixers, pumps, compressors, generators, and compactors.
  • Load and unload heavy materials from trucks and vans.
  • Move or aid in moving heavy boxes, equipment, and larger or bulky objects.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a Field Technician II with possession of a valid FDEP level 2 water distribution system operator license.
  • Possession of a valid Florida CDL Driver's License Class B with air brake and tanker endorsements.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in outdoor environments and may involve prolonged exposure to disagreeable elements, such as heat, humidity, and inclement weather. Some tasks may involve working in and around moving vehicles and associated vehicle/equipment areas, where heightened awareness to surroundings and adherence to established safety precautions is essential.
