Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Utilities Technician to join our team at the City of Winter Garden. As a key member of our water distribution team, you will be responsible for reading water meters, performing maintenance and repairs, and providing excellent customer service to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read water meters on assigned routes and accurately record the readings.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on water meters, service lines, and associated equipment.
  • Respond to customer service requests, including turning water service on and off, and resolving customer complaints.
  • Operate a service truck to perform physically demanding skilled labor, including installing, relocating, replacing, repairing, and maintaining service connections, gate valves, and other related appurtenances associated with water systems.
  • Locate water mains and valves, and perform required inspections, maintenance, and repairs of meters and other related appurtenances.
  • Maintain accurate records of meter readings and reports, and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and prior labor-intensive work experience, or work experience involving customer or public contact.
  • Possession of a valid Florida CDL Driver's permit Class B or higher, or ability to obtain permit within 6 months of hire date, and obtain CDL license class B or higher within 12 months, including air brake and tanker endorsements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with the public and with colleagues.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds), and to work in outdoor environments under all weather conditions.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent public contact, and may involve working in outdoor environments under all weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to vehicular traffic, noise, and exhaust fumes, and may work around open trenches and construction areas.
