Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Henry Ford Health System. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.

• Obtain and record patient medical histories and vital signs, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

• Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during exams, providing exceptional support and care.

• Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.

• Perform basic lab tests and collect/prep lab specimens, ensuring accurate and timely results.

• Schedule patient appointments and manage medical records, maintaining organization and efficiency.

• Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and handle patient correspondence, providing excellent communication and customer service.

• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and exam rooms, upholding high standards of hygiene and safety.

• Provide patient education and instructions on medical procedures or care, empowering patients to take an active role in their health.

• Assist in minor surgical procedures and wound care, demonstrating expertise and compassion.

• Manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed, ensuring a well-stocked and efficient environment.

• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain patient confidentiality, upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.

• Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred.

• Ability to problem-solve preferred.

• Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.

• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.

Additional Requirements:

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).

• OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.

• OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting.

• OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

• OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

• OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

Certifications/Licenses Required:

• Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
