Medical Assistant Apprentice Program

Henry Ford Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant Apprentice to join their team. As a Medical Assistant Apprentice, you will work 16 hours a week at a Henry Ford ambulatory clinic while attending school full-time to obtain your Medical Assistant Certificate. The program is a 10-month partnership between Henry Ford Health System and local colleges, including MiWorks, Henry Ford College, Macomb Community College, Oakland Community College, and Schoolcraft College.

**Requirements:**

  • 18 years or older
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Pass pre-employment health screenings

**Job Summary:**

Under the direct supervision of a mentor, the Medical Assistant Apprentice will perform a variety of duties to assist in providing quality and compassionate care to patients. Duties include greeting and escorting patients to the exam room, measuring and recording height and weight, and demonstrating competency with computerized charting systems such as EPIC.

**Education/Experience Required:**

  • Enrolled in an accredited ABHES or CAAHEP Medical Assistant Program
  • Agree to obtain Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate through HFMG education department
