Position Title: Junior Scientist I

Contract Duration: 12 Month Contract

Location: New Haven, CT - Onsite Requirement

Role Overview: This position is integral to the Injectable Drug Product Development team within the Pharmaceutical Development and Clinical Supply (PDCS) department, focusing on Rare Disease Pharmaceuticals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of studies related to drug product characterization, including formulation development and compatibility assessments for intravenous and subcutaneous applications.
  • Engage in process development activities to facilitate drug product manufacturing and conduct particulate testing.
  • Work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating the ability to operate independently with minimal oversight.
  • Compile and analyze data to produce comprehensive development reports and necessary documentation.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, with up to 2 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector.
  • A solid foundation in protein stability, thermodynamics, and the mechanisms of protein degradation.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques such as H/UPLC, imaged capillary electrophoresis, Ion Exchange Chromatography, Micro-flow imaging, light obscuration, DLS, NanoTemper, and DSC is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to conduct experiments with limited supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while adhering to project timelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in sub-visible particulate characterization and testing.
  • Experience in biophysical and analytical testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing and executing development studies for pharmaceutical clinical candidates and commercial products, focusing on protein drug stability using established methodologies.
  • Managing multiple tasks and projects effectively, demonstrating both independent and collaborative work capabilities.
  • Conducting drug development studies, including physicochemical characterization, particulate analysis, and stability assessments.
  • Assisting in the preparation of internal technical documentation with minimal supervision.
  • Participating in cross-functional teams to support product development initiatives.
  • Maintaining laboratory instruments and electronic record-keeping systems, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
  • Exhibiting initiative in problem-solving and addressing scientific challenges.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

This role is conducted in a laboratory environment, requiring the ability to lift/carry weights, work with biological and hazardous materials, and engage in various forms of communication and problem-solving activities.
