Role Summary:
The Scientist/Chemist I will engage in guided laboratory functions that encompass the operation and upkeep of laboratory apparatus; data gathering, analysis, and equipment servicing; preparation of samples for examination; data compilation; report generation; assisting in the interpretation of results, along with other tasks as directed by supervisory and management staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and assist in laboratory evaluations.
- Prepare and process samples for analysis.
- Track samples across different laboratory environments.
- Regularly clean, maintain, calibrate, and document actions on laboratory equipment, instruments, supplies, and safety devices as per departmental guidelines. Report any repair and service requirements to management promptly.
- Compile and ensure compliance with all relevant Quality Assurance and Quality Control protocols during standard laboratory operations.
- Collect, package, store, and manage the disposal of samples, chemicals, reagents, and waste generated from laboratory activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or necessary.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the appropriate educational background, experience, and professional certifications.
Required Qualifications:
- A four-year degree in a scientific or technical discipline from an accredited institution, such as chemistry, biology, physics, geology, or a related field (introduction to chemistry course and laboratory experience required).
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
