Job Title: Healthcare Nurse Specialist

At Emory Healthcare, we are committed to providing exceptional patient care and advancing the field of wound and ostomy care. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Healthcare Nurse Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Healthcare Nurse Specialist will be responsible for directing agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care, and ostomy care. This includes supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
  • Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.
  • Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.
  • Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.
  • Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family.
Requirements:
  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
  • Two years of recent (within the past five years) Registered Nursing experience.
  • Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.
  • Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.
  • Certification in Continence Care is preferred.
