Job Title: Senior Cook

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cook to join our culinary team at Meridian at Lake San Marcos. As a Senior Cook, you will play a pivotal role in creating a delightful culinary experience for our residents. Your culinary expertise, creativity, and dedication to quality will contribute to the overall satisfaction and well-being of our residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Menu Planning: Design and plan nutritious and well-balanced menus suitable for senior residents, considering their dietary needs and preferences.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to recipes, ensuring high quality and presentation standards.
  • Culinary Expertise: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of various cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavors.
  • Menu Innovation: Innovate and create new dishes to provide variety and excitement for our residents.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with dietary staff and healthcare professionals to ensure meals meet specific dietary restrictions, including low sodium, diabetic-friendly, and modified textures as required.
  • Food Safety: Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Ensure proper storage, handling, and preparation of food items. Monitor and record food temperatures regularly.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary Experience: Proven experience as a cook in a similar culinary environment, preferably within a senior living community or healthcare setting.
  • Culinary Skills: Excellent culinary skills with the ability to create and prepare high-quality meals.
  • Food Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of food safety regulations and ability to maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
  • Volume-Batch Cooking: Experience in volume-batch cooking.
  • Culinary Tools: Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent. A diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage.
