This position is essential for the design, programming, repair, and upkeep of programmable logic controller (PLC) systems utilized in bottling and processing facilities. Responsibilities include inspecting machinery for optimal performance and executing preventative maintenance tasks according to manufacturer guidelines. The role may also involve assisting with repairs and installations of other sophisticated production equipment and providing guidance to junior technicians. Diagnosing equipment failures and executing complex repairs or adjustments is a key aspect of this role. The position entails continuous exposure to heat, noise, gases, and chemicals, along with frequent physical activities such as lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, and kneeling. Weekend and holiday work may be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct preventative maintenance on PLC systems.

Program or repair PLC systems as necessary.

Perform maintenance or repairs on advanced production machinery as required.

Carry out breakdown analysis.

Oversee or execute general housekeeping tasks.

Upgrade production lines with new or enhanced equipment and technology.

Supervise external contractors working on assigned lines.

Facilitate package changeovers on production lines.

Uphold GMP, safety, and audit standards.

Work autonomously with limited supervision (self-management).

Document work schedules and completed tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years or older.

Successfully pass a technical assessment covering critical maintenance knowledge areas.

Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays).

Familiarity with electrical systems (installation, frequency drives, troubleshooting).

Knowledge of electronics (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs).

Experience with PLCs (e.g., industrial maintenance, computer control systems).

Ability to interpret product manuals for repair purposes.

Proficient in reading schematics (e.g., electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays).

Strong troubleshooting skills (e.g., diagnostics, problem-solving).

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Familiarity with mechanical systems (e.g., gearboxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings).

Experience with compressors/ammonia systems (e.g., refrigeration systems).

Knowledge of conveyors and airveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls).

Experience with gearing and gearboxes (rebuilds, parts ordering, machining).

Familiarity with hydraulic systems (high-pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting).

Understanding of kinematics (e.g., line speed/sprocket size ratios).

Experience in packaging/high-speed production (e.g., bottling, consumer products).

Knowledge of pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting).

Experience with preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data).

Familiarity with pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specifications).

Experience with SERVO systems (e.g., intelligent/robotic motors, encoders).

Ability to troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and resolving issues).

Experience reading mechanical drawings (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics).

Experience working in team-oriented environments (collaborating with others).
