Job Title: Visually Impaired Specialist

Partners in Special Education is seeking a skilled Visually Impaired Specialist to join our team. As a Visually Impaired Specialist, you will provide assessment and consultant services to classroom teachers, as well as direct instruction to pupils with visual impairments. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping us deliver exceptional educational experiences to our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement exceptional student education programs that align with the school's educational philosophy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with parents, community members, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide training and support to students in home and school orientation and mobility, including concept development, sensory development, and orientation techniques.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized educational plans for visually impaired students.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, making recommendations for instructional strategies and interventions as needed.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid California teaching credential authorizing specialized services for the visually impaired.
  • Experience in academic or school settings, preferably with a focus on visual impairment and orientation and mobility.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to support student success.
