Position Overview:

As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in facilitating patient admissions and registrations. This position involves engaging with patients to collect essential information, preparing necessary documentation, and managing insurance details while performing various clerical and operational tasks.

Qualifications:

Education:
High School Diploma or GED

Licensures/Certifications:
CHAA certification is preferred

Experience:
Minimum of 6 months in a related field

Skills:
  • Familiarity with insurance policies and billing practices, as well as relevant laws and regulations
  • Understanding of medical terminology is advantageous
  • Proficiency in computer usage and personal productivity software
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including reading comprehension
  • Ability to analyze data for maintaining accurate statistics, logs, and reports
  • Quick and accurate typing skills
  • Exceptional customer service abilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance details, ensuring all necessary signatures are obtained electronically or on paper. Collect payments due at the time of admission and complete the insurance verification process.
  • Provide patients with information regarding facility rates, policies, and procedures, addressing any inquiries and collaborating with clinical staff across various departments.
  • Input patient data into the system to establish or update medical records, including scanning insurance cards and identification documents. Capture patient photographs for identification purposes and secure electronic signatures for various registration forms.
  • Achieve departmental registration timing standards, ensuring efficiency in patient processing.
  • Verify insurance benefits using real-time eligibility tools and adhere to insurance protocols, including entering coverage details accurately.
  • Assist in onboarding new team members and perform various clerical duties, including filing, recordkeeping, and providing excellent customer service.
  • Maintain high registration accuracy standards, evaluated quarterly.
  • Collect co-pays and other payments, ensuring proper authorization for credit card transactions.
  • Support the registration of antenatal patients and assist in various patient access areas as needed.
  • Collaborate with hospital information desks and provide guidance to volunteers.
  • Comfortably navigate multiple hospital computer systems and applications.
