Position Overview:

As a key member of our healthcare team, the Patient Access Representative plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth admission process for both inpatients and outpatients. This position involves gathering essential patient information, managing registration forms, and verifying insurance details, all while providing exceptional customer service.

Educational Requirements:

Preferred Certifications:

- CHAA Certification

Experience:

- Minimum of 6 months in a related field

Essential Skills:

  • Understanding of insurance policies and billing practices, along with relevant laws and regulations
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous
  • Proficiency in computer usage and productivity software
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including comprehension abilities
  • Analytical skills for data management and reporting
  • Typing proficiency with speed and accuracy
  • Exceptional customer service skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information, ensuring all necessary signatures are obtained electronically or on paper. Collect payments due at the time of admission and complete the insurance verification process.
  • Communicate Medical Center policies, rates, and regulations to patients, addressing inquiries and collaborating with clinical staff across various departments.
  • Input patient data into the system to create or update medical records, including scanning insurance cards and identification documents.
  • Meet departmental standards for registration timing, aiming for a target of 7 minutes per patient.
  • Utilize Epic Real-Time Eligibility to confirm insurance benefits and adhere to specific insurance protocols.
  • Assist in onboarding new team members and perform various clerical tasks, including filing, recordkeeping, and phone support.
  • Maintain a registration accuracy rate of 97%, evaluated quarterly.
  • Process co-pays and other payments, ensuring proper authorization for credit card transactions.
  • Support the registration of antenatal patients and assist at Hospital Information Desks as needed.
  • Adapt to various hospital computer systems and applications, including Epic and others.

Vaccination Requirement:

All candidates must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption prior to employment.
