Senior Clinical Laboratory Manager

At Labcorp, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Clinical Laboratory Manager to oversee the operations and administration of our clinical laboratory testing for the Histology and Cytology Department.
We estimate an annual salary of $95,000 - $120,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Job OverviewThis is a leadership opportunity where you will have the chance to facilitate innovation, manage change, and foster team building to provide high-quality products for our diagnostics laboratory.
Schedule: First shift, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field, and at least three years of experience as a Histotechnologist or Cytologist in a histology or cytology laboratory. They should also have prior supervisor experience managing direct reports and be proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct daily operational activities of the histology and cytology department.
- Effectively manage staffing and monitor production schedules to ensure adequate coverage and proper use of overtime.
- Supervise, train, and mentor laboratory supervisors and have ownership and responsibility for all departmental staff.
- Ensure the diagnostics laboratory meets service levels, meeting the needs of pathologists and clients through established metrics for TAT and Quality.
- Resolve client inquiries and operational issues in a timely manner by consulting with Medical Director, Technical Director, QA, other laboratory managers, discipline directors, laboratory directors, or corporate operations.
- Maintain technical knowledge in assigned departments for laboratory and hospital locations.
- Oversee Quality Metrics presentation and ensure they meet expectations.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- Minimum three years of experience as a Histotechnologist or Cytologist in a histology or cytology laboratory.
- Cytology, Histology, and/or ASCP certifications are highly preferred.
- Prior supervisor experience managing direct reports.
- Previous experience managing people leaders is a plus.
- Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and relevant state regulations.
- Understanding of laboratory operations and policies and procedures.
- Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees.
- Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision.
- Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment.
- Ability to handle physical requirements of the position.
