We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team in Houston, TX. This role offers exciting opportunities for growth and professional development.

Job Summary:

This is a full-time position working Tuesday - Saturday 1am-9:30 am with overtime as needed. As a Senior Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for determining the acceptability of specimens for testing, performing routine and complex technical procedures, monitoring instrumentation, and making technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.

Main Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Determine the suitability of specimens for analysis based on established criteria">
  • Conduct a range of tests and assays to identify pathogens and determine their susceptibility to antibiotics">
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency">
  • Collaborate with colleagues to resolve issues and improve processes">
  • Prepare and evaluate new reagents and controls to ensure quality and accuracy">
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of test results">
  • Perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures">
  • Identify and replenish supplies as necessary">

Requirements:

  • ">
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or a related science (or 24 credits in Chemistry/Biology constituting a biological science major)">
  • At least two years of experience in a clinical or reference laboratory setting, preferably with microbiology expertise">
  • Working knowledge of clinical microbiology processes, procedures, and equipment (MALDI-TOF and VITEK2)">
  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred">
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills">
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment">
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and workload demands">

Compensation and Benefits:

This position offers an attractive salary of $60,000 per year, paid bi-weekly. In addition, employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, STD/LTD, 401(k), paid time off (PTO), flexible time off (FTO), tuition reimbursement, and employee stock purchase plan.
