Job Summary

Mary Ann's Baking Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Inventory Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing all inventory in the plant, working closely with the Logistics Manager, Transportation Specialist, and Manager of Operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inventory control, with 5+ years of experience in a similar role. They will be able to effectively plan, organize, prioritize work, and show a bias towards action. Strong quantitative and interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.

The Inventory Specialist will be responsible for tracking inventory flow, performing incremental and physical inventory counts, identifying obsolete/damaged/slow moving inventory, and implementing counting methodologies in production to improve inventory tracking and valuation.

They will also be responsible for recording daily consumption of production materials in the ERP system, maintaining raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventories, both on and off-site, and reporting any shortages on planning and scheduling orders as they are identified.

The successful candidate will be self-directed, with the ability to work independently as well as with groups. They will be proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to learn new platforms. Experience with Microsoft Business Central is preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Tracking inventory flow through the organization, including receiving, put away, storage, and picks.
  • Performing incremental and physical inventory counts.
  • Identifying obsolete/damaged/slow moving inventory.
  • Implementing counting methodologies in production to improve inventory tracking and valuation.
  • Recording daily consumption of production materials in the ERP system.
  • Maintaining raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventories, both on and off-site.
  • Reporting any shortages on planning and scheduling orders as they are identified.
  • Ensuring that all lot numbers are correctly recorded on Shipping & Receiving paperwork and in the ERP system.
  • Ensuring that the FIFO ingredient rotation procedure is being adhered to by the loaders.
  • Assisting the Compliance department in the preparation and completion of third-party audits and inspections.
  • Covering for similar positions in the department when needed due to labor issues.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/equivalent.
  • 5+ years in an inventory control role.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, prioritize work, and show a bias towards action.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as with groups.
  • Strong quantitative and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to learn new platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central preferred.
