Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is a licensed professional responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of radiopharmaceuticals, radiation safety, and quality control procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform nuclear medicine procedures using radiopharmaceuticals to assist in diagnosis and/or treatment.
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze biologic specimens and prepare data for interpretation.
  • Conduct radiation safety and quality control procedures on all Nuclear Medicine equipment as required by the department.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of assigned staff, students, residents, and faculty.
  • Contribute to performance improvement activities in the department.
  • Demonstrate competency and participate in the lead/coordinator role.
  • Lead and instruct specialty procedures, participate in clinical protocol development, improvement, and implementation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine training program.
  • Current CA state license - CA Department of Public Health, Certified Technologist, Nuclear Medicine.
  • NMTCB or ARRT (N) certification.
  • BLS (CPR) certification.
  • Minimum 3-7 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, depending on the level of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent work experience in an acute care setting.
  • ACLS certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in science, or equivalent credentials.
  • Previous experience in a Nuclear Medicine Technologist lead/coordinator role.
