Job Title: Referral Coordinator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our team at Northwest Asthma and Allergy Center. As a Referral Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patient referrals are processed accurately and efficiently, providing timely access to care for our patients.

Job Summary

The Referral Coordinator will work closely with physicians, insurance companies, and other medical offices to streamline the referral process and maintain comprehensive records. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track, coordinate, and communicate patient referrals
  • Ensure complete and accurate patient registration, including demographics and current insurance information
  • Handle requests from third-party referral sources and provide relevant information and data
  • Serve as point person for multidisciplinary evaluation process, including patient scheduling, third-party communications, and internal communications
  • Assemble information concerning patient's clinical background and referral needs
  • Contact insurance companies to ensure verification of benefits and prior authorization approval requirements are met
  • Review details and expectations of referral with the potential patient
  • Assist patients in problem-solving potential issues related to financial or social barriers
  • Ensure that referrals are addressed in a timely manner
  • Schedule and remind patients of scheduled appointments
  • Communicate patient updates between treatment and referring source
  • Assist in answering incoming new patient calls
  • Work within Klara and EMR answering service app to answer referral-related questions
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and 2 years of medical office experience
  • Experience processing patient referrals in a healthcare setting or medical office
  • Exceptional customer, patient service, and interpersonal skills
  • Clear and effective communication in a positive manner, attention to detail, spelling, and grammar
  • Knowledge of computer and phone systems
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR)
