Position Overview:
Kettering Health is a not-for-profit healthcare organization comprising 13 medical facilities and over 120 outpatient locations in southwest Ohio. Key Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the Patient Registration I role include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating patient registrations while ensuring outstanding guest relations and exemplary customer service through effective communication.
  • Reviewing all scheduled outpatient appointments beforehand to confirm that all patients have been assessed for potential discounts.
  • Discussing payer sources and payment options with patients to ensure clarity and understanding.
  • Assisting patients in completing Financial Assistance Forms, HCAP Applications, and Medicaid Applications when applicable.
  • Conducting thorough account reviews for accuracy and demonstrating the ability to update all facets of a patient account.
  • Exhibiting knowledge of all compliance or legally mandated registration forms, consents, literature, and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma is required.
  • One or more years of experience in a medical office or customer service setting is required.

Skills:

  • Prior experience in registration or scheduling is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet pre-screening protocols and demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, telephone etiquette, and customer service knowledge.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in teams and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Capacity to learn site-specific patient processing software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer literate.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, often high-pressure environment while maintaining a respectful, caring, and professional demeanor.
  • Willingness to adapt work schedule to meet staffing requirements.
