Job Summary

The Security Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for Barton Health's employees, patients, and visitors. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular patrols of hospital facilities to detect and deter crime, theft, and vandalism.
  • Respond to emergency codes and calls for assistance, ensuring incident data is collected and reported in a timely manner.
  • Monitor access control, intrusion detection, and camera systems to ensure the physical security of hospital facilities.
  • Issue staff identification and access control badges, and maintain and troubleshoot access control hardware.
  • Recognize and report irregular, unusual, or unsafe situations, and take immediate action to resolve issues whenever possible.
  • Aid in the application of violent or non-violent restraints, and demonstrate proper handling and storage of patient belongings, valuables, and Lost & Found items.
  • Investigate, report, and follow-up on all reportable incidents, and submit well-written, complete, and detailed Security Incident Reports.
  • Control traffic and parking, enforcing parking laws, rules, and regulations through verbal and written warnings as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned, including responding to the needs of the department.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of experience as a security officer or prior military/law enforcement experience preferred.
  • Valid CA BSIS Security Guard or Proprietary Private Security Officer license or ability to obtain prior to hire.
  • Current California or Nevada Driver's License with clean driving record.
  • American Heart Association CPR/BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
Working Conditions

The Security Officer will work in a fast-paced hospital environment, frequently exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases, infections, and contagious disease. The position requires the ability to work effectively with others, handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion, and respond to emergency or crisis situations.
