Role Purpose:

In accordance with established protocols, this position is responsible for performing routine cleaning tasks to ensure that assigned areas within the facility are maintained in a clean and sanitary state. This includes moving furniture, equipment, and supplies as necessary, and executing a variety of both heavy and light cleaning duties. The role involves utilizing a systematic cleaning approach, including the use of dry and wet mops, floor stripping and buffing, carpet shampooing, and stain removal from various surfaces.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receives and organizes cleaning assignments, requests necessary materials and supplies such as mops, buckets, buffers, vacuum cleaners, and disinfectants from designated storage areas. Prepares cleaning solutions and loads service carts for transport to work areas.
  • Conducts thorough cleaning of assigned spaces by applying germicidal cleaning solutions to furnishings, tiles, fixtures, and equipment. This includes scrubbing and polishing sinks, tubs, toilets, and mirrors.
  • Upon patient discharge, prepares beds with fresh linens, cleans surrounding furniture, and manages waste disposal by emptying waste receptacles. Ensures restocking of essential supplies such as soap, tissues, and towels.
  • Maintains cleanliness in limited floor areas, including patient rooms and administrative offices, through sweeping and mopping.
  • Utilizes vacuuming equipment for carpets, spot cleans as needed, and organizes furniture and equipment post-cleaning. Operates buffing machinery for larger floor areas.
  • Performs routine maintenance on cleaning equipment and alerts supervisors regarding any equipment requiring repair.
  • Conducts visual inspections of cleaned areas to confirm that cleanliness and orderliness standards are met.
  • Returns unused supplies to storage, cleans service carts and equipment, ensuring proper organization.
  • Engages in heavy-duty cleaning tasks, including floor stripping and carpet shampooing using specialized equipment.
  • Washes, scrubs, and disinfects walls, windows, and doors, determining the best methods for stain removal using various cleaning tools and solutions.
  • Collects waste from multiple locations within the facility and transports it to designated disposal areas, adhering to established sanitation protocols.
  • Moves furniture and equipment as needed, utilizing handcarts or dollies.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions; six to twelve months of relevant work experience, with minimal on-the-job training required.
  • No specific certification, registration, or licensure is necessary.
  • Analytical skills to read and understand instructions, perform basic arithmetic, and make comparisons.
  • Ability to follow simple written or verbal instructions; occasional interaction with patients and visitors requiring basic courtesy.
