Personal Care Assistant

Employment Type: Part-time, benefits-eligible (25 hours/week)
Schedule: 5 shifts per week, 4 pm-9 pm including every other weekend/holiday rotations
Incentive: $1000 Sign-On Bonus
A Personal Care Assistant offers essential in-home support to participants, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). The role requires the ability to work autonomously and effectively in a minimally supervised environment, demonstrating problem-solving skills while knowing when to seek guidance from supervisory personnel. Respect for the participant's home and community is paramount.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regularly reviews and adheres to participant ADL/IADL care plans, ensuring accurate documentation of services rendered.
- Checks voicemail at the start of each shift and every two hours thereafter, promptly reporting any unusual findings or changes in participant condition to the appropriate team members.
- Provides assistance with ADLs as outlined in care plans, including support with toileting when requested by participants.
- Accompanies participants to medical appointments as needed.
- Executes basic treatments under nursing supervision, including catheter care and skin assessments during personal care.
- Current certification as a Home Health Aide (H.H.A.) or Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) from an accredited program is required.
- Demonstrated competencies must be validated prior to providing care.
- At least one year of experience working with elderly or frail individuals is preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a health aide or personal care assistant, is advantageous.
- Possession of a vehicle for travel between homes is preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills are essential; bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Physical capability to assist all participants with ADLs and mobility is necessary.
