We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Safety Director to join our team at Airgas. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs, claims management, and compliance with government regulatory agencies and corporate operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Design, direct, and conduct training and audits on Airgas Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure associate safety and company regulatory compliance.
- Lead Safety and Compliance Initiatives: Direct and coordinate the execution of safety and corporate loss control initiatives at multi-site locations, representing Airgas on regional regulatory issues and audits/inspections by government entities.
- Provide Leadership and Guidance: Provide leadership and guidance on Airgas's Incident Review Committee, analyzing significant risk data to management and developing action plans to mitigate risks.
- Develop Innovative Safety Training Programs: Work with the Training department to develop impactful and meaningful safety training programs.
- Manage Claims and Investigations: Conduct accident investigations and partner with insurance carriers to manage claims.
- Partner with Senior Management: Partner with Senior Management on all potential acquisitions from the perspective of Safety & Compliance issues prior to the acquisition, all the way through integration.
- Collaborate with Human Resources: Work closely with Human Resources on all EHS and Risk Management issues.
- Empower Location Managers and Employees: Initiate activities designed to empower location managers and employees to lead safety efforts within the organization.
- Participate in Emergency Response Operations: Participate in a leadership capacity on the AERO (the Airgas Emergency Response Operations) Team.
- Lead Customer Safety Training: Lead offsite customer safety training.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level of education and experience.
- Experience: A minimum of 8 years of related safety experience within a production and distribution environment.
- Skills: Excellent organizational, written and oral communication, listening and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively present and discuss technical information and respond to questions from employees, government agency representatives, and customers.
- Computer Literacy: Intermediate knowledge of Google Suites.
- Reliable Transportation: Reliable transportation, current driver's license, minimum liability insurance as required by state of vehicle registration.
- Travel Requirements: Frequent regional travel (up to 70% of work time), may require overnight travel.
