Manufacturing Operations Leader

Manufacturing Unit Manager

Your key responsibilities

• Formulate the annual operational budget and oversee expenditures related to the manufacturing process, including both direct and indirect labor. Develop a strategic functional plan that aligns with the two-year Manufacturing Strategic Plan. Assess and recommend the allocation of resources essential for meeting the manufacturing objectives, such as equipment, personnel, and overtime. Implement the master production schedule/MRP with a focus on cost, quality, and delivery. Propose and execute initiatives aimed at waste reduction and continuous process improvement. Enhance areas concerning cost, quality, process, safety, and service for both internal and external customers. Communicate and manage significant manufacturing variances against planned metrics and suggest appropriate corrective actions.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles. Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to evaluate production processes, identify potential issues, and recommend or implement corrective measures. Create an environment that is responsive to customer needs.
• Utilize modern manufacturing and quality methodologies to ensure that processes are well-documented. Ensure that operational policies, procedures, and management systems are effectively established. Prioritize EHS considerations, including the use of safety equipment, Right-to-Know programs, and the minimization or elimination of hazardous materials.
• Recruit, retain, and develop the operations team to support the strategic manufacturing objectives. Establish performance expectations, measure outcomes, and recognize achievements. Ensure effective communication with employees regarding departmental, plant, and company performance. Communicate risk management expectations to employees and evaluate performance against these plans.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Engineering) and over 10 years of experience in production management.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, operational budgeting, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Familiarity with quality and manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems.
  • Understanding of EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Candidates must possess work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the US.
