About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Institutional Repository Librarian to join our team at Georgia Tech. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for managing and supporting our institutional repository initiatives, ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of Georgia Tech's scholarship and research outputs in digital form.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Institutional Repository Service, implementing best practices for digital preservation, metadata standards, and open access principles.
  • Co-lead the Georgia Tech Digital Repository with the Digital Curation Archivist, working with vendors and local IT to manage, maintain, and enhance repository services.
  • Assist with the identification and recruitment of content for curated scholarly collections, soliciting materials to enhance the scholarly record of the Institute.
  • Serve as Product Owner for key digital curation systems and tools, supporting the Institutional Repository Service.
  • Contribute to the development of digital scholarship initiatives, collaborating with faculty and researchers to promote the use of digital tools and methods.
  • Participate in library-wide committees, activities, and working groups, and in meetings, workshops, and training, for continued professional development.
Requirements
  • Appropriate terminal degree, typically an American Library Association (ALA) - accredited master's degree, a degree in a subject related to archival work, and/or in the appropriate area of specialization.
  • Evidence of scholarship and/or evidence of service to the librarian profession.
  • 5 years of professional experience, with a strong record of scholarship and service demonstrating significant contributions to the librarian/archivist profession.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years experience with institutional repositories, including the ability to implement best practices for digital preservation, metadata standards, and open access principles.
  • Proficiency in using repository platforms such as DSpace, Fedora, Digital Commons, or similar systems.
  • 2 years experience working closely with researchers to identify and recruit scholarly publications and other locally created research outputs for preservation and long-term access.
  • 2 years experience using repository metadata schemas such as Dublin Core, METS, PREMIS.
  • 1 year experience utilizing persistent identifier schemas such as ORCID, DOI, or other related schemas.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current national data content and structure standards related to the curation of digital materials.
