Position Summary

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing health and welfare programs, retirement plans, and various leave initiatives. This role involves the development, implementation, coordination, and maintenance of benefit programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee enrollment processes for new hires, ensuring compliance with departmental timelines and regulations.
  • Maintain confidential benefit records and files essential for effective program management.
  • Validate vendor termination dates and ensure accurate compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Assist employees and retirees with inquiries regarding health plans, claims, and retirement benefits.
  • Support the annual open enrollment process, including communication review for employees and retirees.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, correspondence, and data entry.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain tracking logs and respond to state and Medicare inquiries.
  • May assist with vendor invoice processing.

Senior-Level Responsibilities

In addition to the above, the Senior-Level position will include:

  • Administering eligibility and compliance for health and welfare plans, including health savings accounts and retirement plans.
  • Monitoring financial accuracy and operational integrity through regular reporting and data validation.
  • Presenting benefits information during orientation sessions and assisting employees considering retirement.
  • Acting as a liaison between employees and third-party vendors regarding claims and eligibility issues.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of Qualified Medical Child Support Orders and COBRA notifications.
  • Managing benefit changes and data within the benefits operating system.
  • Implementing new programs and enhancing existing processes for improved service delivery.
  • Maintaining the benefits intranet and enrollment systems.
  • Monitoring ACA compliance and assisting with data requests and projects.

Qualifications

Mid-Level Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant Human Resources experience.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
  • Proficient in personal computer applications, including spreadsheets and databases.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across all organizational levels.
  • General knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

Senior-Level Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Management, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years of HR experience, with at least one year in benefits administration.
  • Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and investigative abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including ERISA and COBRA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PHR or SPHR Certification.
