Healthcare Support Specialist

As a Healthcare Support Specialist at the University of Miami Hospital & Clinics, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to provide safe transportation of patients from their rooms to various areas of the hospital. You will also be responsible for verifying patient identification bands, charts, and sending slips to ensure patient safety. Additionally, you will assist patients to and from stretchers, assist nursing personnel with patient positioning and skin preps, and maintain the cleanliness of the surgical suite. You will also support the supply needs of the department by receiving supplies and restocking all areas. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be essential in maintaining the high standards of patient care at the University of Miami.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides safe transportation of patients from their rooms to various areas of the hospital.
Ensures patient safety by verifying patient identification bands, charts, and sending slips.
Assists patients to and from stretchers.
Assists nursing personnel with patient positioning and skin preps.
Maintains the cleanliness of the surgical suite.
Supports the supply needs of the department by receiving supplies and restocking all areas.
Maintains the cleanliness of the operating rooms at the end of the day's schedule.
Empties all trash containers, suction canister boxes, and replaces bags and boxes, periodically throughout the day.
Maintains the attendants' supply room with needed solutions for the cleaning and maintenance of floors, polishing of glass, and cleaning of counters and walls.
Maintains inventory of wet vacuum hoses, floor tools, and brushes.
Mops the floor between surgical procedures.
Cleans patient pantry and dining area and empties trash frequently.
Returns equipment to the storage room and keeps the room orderly.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
Commitment to the University's core values.
Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
